Peace Ensemble 2026
A global collective composition building a long-form musical work for peace
The Peace Ensemble is a non-profit collaborative music project exploring the idea of peace through shared sound. Contributors from anywhere in the world are invited to submit simple musical ideas, which are combined into an evolving long-form musical composition.
Open to everyone! Here's how to contribute:
1) Record your contribution
2) Upload your files to wetransfer.com (or another file-sharing service) and create a link
3) Submit your contribution here
Guidelines for Submissions:
What to Submit
You don’t need to create a full piece of music.
Simple contributions are encouraged — a single instrument, a short idea, a texture, or a fragment is perfect. These will be layered and combined with other submissions to form the larger work.
Both tonal and non-tonal contributions are welcome.
Lo-fi recordings are absolutely fine.
If you do decide to record multiple instruments, please include:
• A full mix of all instruments together
• Each individual instrument as a separate track
If in doubt, keep it simple!
Optional: Key & Tempo Guide
-
If you’d like your contribution to sit easily alongside others, you might find it helpful to work within a loose key centre or tempo.
-
The composition is centered around G at 70 bpm, but this is just a guide. Feel free to experiment with Major, minor, or completely free
-
To help, we’ve provided a drone and click track (see bottom of page). If you prefer to ignore them, that’s totally fine.
No Words or Lyrics
-
To keep the project non-political and non-ideological, contributions cannot include words or lyrics.
-
Instrumental-only or lyric-less vocal contributions are welcome.
Audio Quality & Format
-
High-quality recordings are great, but don’t worry if all you have is your phone.
-
We can accept almost any format: WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC. We’ll convert them as needed.
Tips for Contributors:
-
Perfection is not required! Mistakes, unusual instruments, and lo-fi textures are all welcome—every sound helps build the ensemble.
-
Play what feels right; this is about participation, creativity, and peace, not technical polish.
Licensing
-
By submitting, you agree your contribution can be edited, mixed, and included in the Peace Ensemble under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial licence.
-
The final project will also be released under the same licence, open for all to enjoy non-commercially.
Backing Tracks Below 👇🏻
-
Using these tracks is optional!
-
But playing along will help your contribution fit smoothly into the final mix
-
Use headphones so the backing doesn’t leak into your recording
